A downloadable game for Windows

Life (Re)Sounding is currently in a beta state. There may be bugs and issues present in the game. If you find any of these, please let us know at likeglassgames@gmail.com - we would greatly appreciate it!

At the moment, Life (Re)Sounding requires a dedicated video card to run correctly. If you are having issues with the brightness of the game, try changing the shadow quality in the settings to "High".

Life (Re)Sounding is a short (around 15 -20 minute) game/interactive 5 track music album created using Unreal 5 and the MetaMidiToolkit.  It is designed to raise awareness of neurodiversity by encouraging players to engage with slices of life of a neurodivergent person thrust into a world that was built for neurotypical people.

A lack of understanding around the obstacles faced by neurodivergent people growing up in a neurotypical world contributes to a higher risk of mental health challenges than their neurotypical counterparts. Through game design elements including mechanics, environments and dynamic audio, Life (Re)Sounding aims to put players into the shoes of a neurodivergent person, encouraging them to experience some of the ways that neurodivergent individuals are forced to navigate challenges that may not be apparent to the surrounding world and the complexities that come with this.

Whilst acknowledging that everyone's lived experiences are different,  Life (Re)Sounding is informed by the personal experiences of the design team, those close to them and academic research in this space, Life (Re)Sounding aims to raise awareness of how hard it can be just to exist as a neurodivergent person, while also celebrating the transformative power of self-discovery and community connection.

Great idea! Looks and sounds amazing.

Bug stuff and comments:

The first level froze after I finished the blocks. Didn't happen on my second attempt. Definitely needs a mouse, trying to do the second level with my laptop track pad nearly killed me.

Edit: My 16 year old played it as well and found it very relatable. There was significant frame loss when the lights became extremely bright in the lounge room level.

Edit Edit: We got stuck in the lounge room level when the food clipped through the bin and disappeared

Yet another edit: My 12 year old who has dygraphia and ADHD said it would be great for a PDH (personal development and Health) class at their school.

Thanks so much mushy1901 - we really appreciate the feedback and the bug finding! Thanks to your 12 year old as well :) We'll get on these issues ASAP :) That's a great idea about PDH class too!

No bugs from me on my playthrough, although as an autistic person definitely the increasing light on some of the levels was a great demonstration of light sensitivity.

Thanks so much for the feedback protonious, the way the light sensitivity comes across is one of my personal favourite elements in the game as it rings so true to real life for me.

I didn't get past the first level.  It took me a while to find the clue, and then I had real issues getting the blocks on top of each other.   I liked the music and particularly the tiny UI sound.  I adjusted the lighting several times.

Thanks so much Kathy, we'll touch base with you to see if we can help work through that issue - we definitely want you to see the other levels!

Thank you and bug fixing - 21/09/24

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback and all of the excellent bug-hunting that you are all doing - we are much appreciative!

Because of your help we have now found and fixed the following bugs:
- Adjusted shadow settings on LOW to prevent oversaturation and excessive brightness.
- Added restart button to the pause menu, returning players to the most recent checkpoint.
- Fixed a bug preventing players from interacting with the level 3 chair, which could cause a game freeze.
- Pause menu now functions correctly when sitting in chairs.
- Additional level and collision tweaks.

Oh, well done.  Such a good premise behind this game.

Thanks so much Kathy :)
